Costa Cálida

www.expatfamiliesinspain.com - map of the Costa CálidaThe Costa Cálida, or 'Warm Coast', stretches from El Mojon down to Aguilas and is contained within Murcia Province. There are beautiful sandy beaches all along the coastline.

It is well named with high temperatures the norm in summer. Around 315 sunny days and an average of 34cm of rain annually means that water has long been a very precious resource in this region.

The main treasure is the Mar Menor, a salt-water lagoon. The Mar Menor, or 'little sea' is Europe's biggest salt-water lagoon. It is separated from the Mediterranean Sea by the thin strip of land known as La Manga and has five connecting channels.
