It is well named with high temperatures the norm in summer. Around 315 sunny days and an average of 34cm of rain annually means that water has long been a very precious resource in this region. The main treasure is the Mar Menor, a salt-water lagoon. The Mar Menor, or 'little sea' is Europe's biggest salt-water lagoon.
